The Bluewater Education Foundation's Office is located at the entrance to the Lodge at the Bluewater Outdoor Education Centre, just north of Wiarton. Please call ahead before coming to visit!
Mike Schwindt
Development Manager
Mike is a passionate believer in the value of outdoor education, with a diverse professional background. After teaching for 10 years (including 5 in a remote community in Northwestern Ontario and 4 at Neyashiinigmiing), Mike ran youth employment workshops, provided career counseling, managed health and safety, and provided educational programming virtually through the first year of COVID at the Bruce County Museum.
Mike and his family live in Wiarton and are actively involved in the life of the community. Mike has been a member of the board of directors for the Wiarton Kids' Den since 2019, and is a trail captain for the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club.
Mike's role with the Foundation is to increase the use of the Bluewater Outdoor Education Centre in a sustainable manner, consistent with the goals of the Foundation and the founders of the Centre.
Meagan Hayward
Coordinator of Strategic Initiatives
Meagan is a passionate nature lover and traveler who finds immense joy in exploring the great outdoors, both in her own backyard and around the world! She has had the opportunity of visiting various corners of the earth, including New Zealand, Spain, Germany, England, Italy, Austria, Cuba, and Switzerland.
Meagan is deeply committed to building meaningful connections with the land and those around her. She strives to be a positive and supportive presence in life. Being happily married to her wonderful partner for almost a year now, these two locals enjoy finding toads and turtles and hope to have a hobby, goat farm one day, all while continuing to travel!
Meagan has a lot of professional experience within multiple fields and enjoys using her interdisciplinary knowledge. With a diploma in tourism from Georgian College, Meagan has worked in municipalities, conservation, post secondary education and now happily in outdoor education!
